Reflection
For this piece, I created an alebrije inspired sculpture out of clay, focusing on building its rounded form while the clay was still soft. I used a tool to attach small balls of clay across the surface and added texture to each one so it would resemble a sea urchin. This process took time and patience because I had to make sure each piece was securely attached and evenly spaced.
As I worked, I focused on keeping the overall shape balanced while building up the texture layer by layer. It helped me get more comfortable with using tools and attaching pieces without them falling off. I like how the repeated textures create a cohesive and interesting surface.
Overall, I’m really happy with how the final piece turned out. This project helped me improve my technique and showed me how adding texture can completely transform a simple form
