Mug Wall hanging Bust
current artist inspired
My mug was a normal tea cup looking mug. I kept the design very simple, and looking back, I think it was too plain and didn’t really show much creativity or effort in terms of design. After finishing it, I didn’t like it because it felt more like a basic object rather than a personal art piece. The shape was fine, but there wasn’t anything about it that made it feel unique or special. I also wish I had added more detail or decoration to make it more interesting, but at the time I just went with a simple design. In the end, I didn’t choose to fire it because I didn’t have any use for it and I didn’t feel like it was worth keeping as part of my final work

My wall hanging art was a crescent moon design. I chose something simple because I thought it would be easier to work with and still look nice once it was finished. However, after completing it, I didn’t really like how it came out overall. It felt too plain and not very detailed, and I think it didn’t stand out the way I wanted it to. The shape of the moon was okay, but it didn’t feel very creative or interesting once it was done, and it looked more basic than I expected. I also think I could have added more texture or design elements to make it more visually appealing, but I didn’t end up doing that. Because of how it turned out, I didn’t choose to fire it since I didn’t have any use for it and I didn’t feel it was something I would actually display or keep.

My bust was a one eyed monster with hair. When I first started the project, I thought it would be interesting to make something a little more creative and different from a regular face, but the final result didn’t really turn out how I imagined. After finishing it, I didn’t like it very much because the proportions and details didn’t feel right to me. The expression and overall shape looked kind of messy, and it didn’t really match the idea I had in my head in the beginning. I also felt like I struggled a bit with getting the features to look clean and intentional, especially the hair and the single eye. In the end, I didn’t choose to fire it because I didn’t have any use for it and I didn’t feel connected enough to the piece to want to keep it or improve it further.

For my current artist-inspired flower piece, I created a flat, dish-like flower design inspired by the visual mood of an Adrianne Lenker album cover. I wanted it to feel soft and simple, like something natural but also a little abstract, almost like it could sit quietly as both an object and an image at the same time. The flower ended up looking very flat and handmade, with uneven edges and a basic structure that gives it a raw, imperfect feel. Overall, I do like how it turned out because it matches the simple and emotional style I was aiming for, but I don’t like it enough to fully “fire” it. It still feels more like a practice piece or an idea that isn’t fully developed yet. It shows my concept clearly, but it doesn’t feel finished or strong enough to keep as a final ceramic piece
