Monster

This is it before it fell.
Reflection
For this piece, I created a monster sculpture out of clay, focusing on building up its form while the clay was still soft. Partway through the process, the sculpture accidentally fell on the floor and got smashed, which was really frustrating and discouraging. Rebuilding it after that was challenging because the original shape was lost, and the clay had already been worked a lot. I tried my best to put it back together and keep the idea of the monster the same, but it was difficult to make it look the way I first imagined. While the experience taught me a lot about problem solving and working through mistakes in ceramics, I don’t love how the final piece turned out after it was rebuilt. Even so, the process helped me understand how fragile clay can be and how accidents can change the direction of a piece.
